Personal Wedding Ceremonies and Baby Naming Celebrations in London, Cambridge, Suffolk and Birmingham
I normally conduct naming ceremonies for babies, but there are times when a re-naming may be suitable for someone a bit older.
We are given our names at birth, usually by our parents. Sometimes, for various reasons, we become known by other names as we grow up. Nicknames, pseudonyms, variations on the name on our birth certificate.
When we decide to be called by another name, it can be a sign that we are embarking on a new life and that should be celebrated. The oldest form of re-naming is a wedding ceremony, where the bride is taking her husband’s name.
Now, a first name change may be a sign of a sign of gender re-assignment, where the recipient of the new name is finally living or beginning in the body they should have been born in. A re-naming ceremony can help your family adapt to the change and gives everyone a chance to celebrate this new part of your life.
If you are thinking of having a ceremony to celebrate the new you, send me an email. I’m always happy to answer questions.
